Dear Future Band Parents,

We are not unique to this area, the Newnan/Sharpsburg area seems to have transplanted people from all over the country. We are a military family that has moved about every 2 ½ years of our sons life.  Our son had a hard time at Madras making friends in 8th grade (our first year in Georgia), because you cant talk in class or at lunch.  He liked band but wasnt sure if he wanted to March in High School. We told him he had to give it a chance- one year only.

We went to our first band parent meeting and were shocked that our little boy would be going off to Band Camp for a whole week.  We felt better after meeting the chaperones and realizing that they really will take care of all the children when they are away.  It was the best week he had ever had.  It was hard, hot and exhausting but he made some real friends that week-and new ones each year since.  The month of July coming to the High School for practices made our transition to HS almost a breeze.

We have even decided not to move until our son graduates, mainly because of the wonderful band family environment. Marching in the band is very important to our son so one of our criteria for college is if they have a great marching band program or not.

Please join our band family it is a great place for your kid to hang out in High School and grow up.

Sincerely

The Edmonds family
