The Northgate Winterguard program began in the fall of 2000 and has since expanded into many different groups at various levels of competition. The group began with only one Scholastic-level unit, and has had up to two scholastic units competing in the same season within different classifications. The Winterguard program at one point also sponsored an independent-level group. All ensembles associated with the Northgate Winterguard program score in the top tier at their competitions, frequently earning medals for placements in the top three groups.
